The Guest List

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, planning a wedding is a massive pain in the arse! The guest list, for me, is the most daunting. Because resources are limited, we have 50 seats we can fill. That doesn’t mean 50 invitations though! You cannot invite a person with a spouse without inviting their spouse. You cannot invite someone without letting them bring a date/etc. This means the list of people I would love to invite and have always pictured having at my wedding is now cut down to a third of what it would be.

With this said, Ken is making a point of asking his close family if they would “like” an invitation. This will hopefully cut down on the cost of printing up bunch of invites that will get chucked in the bin, so to speak or ignored completely. I’ve created a poll just for this purpose. I’m pretty sure the only people who will respond to the poll are people who would actually like to attend. I would like to include as many as we can but again, we don’t have 50 seats but rather a limited number of people and their “plus 1” that we can invite. We could add 50 additional seats for a small additional fee but then there comes the headcount of a possible reception (see last post). I’m struggling with that as well.

If you are a friend of Ken’s or myself, please take a moment to answer the poll. If you would like an invite, please email myself or Ken with your contact details. We are also thinking of sending electronic “e-vites” so if you don’t care to keep a hard copy invite for your keepsakes (and I doubt many will!) then please also provide your email address.

I am really thankful for the love and support of my family, friends and co-workers during this courtship. I know it’s been rather weird for some that Ken and I would meet via the internet, meet in person the same week we get engaged and get married in less than a year. That seems, well rather quick. But on the other hand, my Mother and Father dated 1 month before they moved in together, 3 months before they got engaged and got married at 6 months of knowing each other! Ken and I are adults and I hope I speak for both of us when I say we appreciate your support and understanding that while we know Rome wasn’t built in a day, love knows no timeline.

We look forward to spending time with you all as the days grow shorter before the wedding, myself especially. Please don’t forget the poll! More to come …

Love,

Kimberly
